Flightline Radio Network

The objective of this SBIR Phase I effort is to explore and develop innovative technologies leveraging cellular network infrastructure, particularly focusing on Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) architectures, to enhance communication capabilities on the flight line at Edwards AFB. The goal is to establish a secure, adaptable, and interoperable cellular network that facilitates superior aircraft maintenance, logistics, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the effort aims to support advanced test and evaluation activities, promoting a high-performance communication environment that meets the stringent demands of a modern Air Force Base. This R&D initiative will focus on feasibility studies, system design, and foundational prototyping, ensuring flexibility for future adaptation and integration into subsequent phases based on Phase I outcomes and insights.
