NIH Fast-Track
Also called: Fast Track, SBIR/STTR Fast-Track
An NIH application option in which a small business submits Phase I and Phase II together in one application, reviewed together, to shorten or remove the funding gap between phases.
A Fast-Track application combines Phase I and Phase II in one package that is reviewed together and receives a single rating. It requires a fully developed Phase II plan at the time you apply.
The Phase I part must still set clear, measurable milestones that have to be met before Phase II work begins.
NIH strongly encourages applicants to consult NIH program staff before choosing Fast-Track. NSF's current SBIR/STTR solicitation also includes a Fast-Track option, with its own rules.
