Grants.gov
Also called: Grants.gov Workspace
Grants.gov is the federal website where agencies post discretionary funding opportunities and where organizations find and apply for them. NIH SBIR and STTR applications are routed through it.
An organization must register in SAM.gov first, because Grants.gov uses SAM.gov to decide who can act for the organization. NIH says you can register with Grants.gov once your full SAM registration is approved and active. There is no fee to register.
The Electronic Business Point of Contact (EBiz POC) named in SAM.gov creates a Grants.gov account with the same email, adds an organization applicant profile using the UEI, and assigns roles. A user with the Authorized Organization Representative (AOR) role can submit applications for the organization.
Applicants must have a Login.gov account to use Grants.gov.
NIH applications can be prepared in ASSIST, Grants.gov Workspace or a system-to-system tool; all are routed through Grants.gov and tracked in eRA Commons. NSF SBIR and STTR proposals use Research.gov instead.
